*Lasrachai was imported as a young stallion from Connemara County, Ireland.  As the only stallion son of Thunderbolt in the US, he first stood in Maryland at the farm of David Jones, and later was on lease to Sally Green of Balius Farms in California.  This is where I first met him AND fell in love with Connemaras.  It is due to Sally and David (who later allowed me to buy *Las) that  I was able to start Blue Oak Connemaras with such fine bloodlines.  *Las's dam is a direct daughter of Rebel Wind so his pedigree boasts "up close" relatives that you usually see many generations back.  Pat Lyne (well known author on the history of the Connemara pony) wrote a book dedicated to his sire "The Life and Times of Thunderbolt" when that great stallion died in England.  (*Lasrachai had the honor of having his picture in the book also.)   A visitor remarked to me after reading the book… "WELL--it's not often even a PERSON has that kind of testimonial written about them when they die!"  I had to agree and I decided to give this book to those who breed to *Lasrachai (or buy foals sired by him) so that they too will see "It's in the blood" of their future Connemaras.....

*Lasrachai passed International Inspections with excellent marks from a team of three American and two Irish inspectors at Napa, California (see photo on Home Page).  Although he has had limited showing, he has always placed highly as have his babies that we've shown.  The half-breds are often mistaken for purebreds and at the Event Masters Pony Show in Sacramento a few years ago, were constantly placed in the "purebred line."  When we did finally enter the part-bred class, his son (a yearling) won first place, and his daughter (a two year old) won second against ALL AGE partbred Connemaras.

*Lasrachai passes on his flat bone (9+ inches), pony "type",  his wonderful disposition, athletic ability, and the "handsome" good looks of the true Connemara pony.  His foals also inherit an inquisitiveness and confidence from the day they are born that makes them easy to train and easier to love!
