Oak is a small breeding farm located just off Interstate 5
in far northern California. We are between Redding and
Chico in the Oak studded foothills of the Sacramento Valley,
l00 miles from Sacramento.
Starting with my love of endurance riding and athletic Arabian
mares, we first had purebred Arabians whose dams carried performance
records. When retired, the mares had foals sired mainly
by the nationally famous endurance stallion, Wazir's Karahty
who produces unequaled endurance champions.
Having bred horses all my life, I branched out into Connemaras
after acquiring the wonderful imported Irish stallion *Lasrachai
from David Jones on a "tip" from Balius Farms.
It was love at first sight, and still is. SO--it was only
natural to combine the two old breeds I loved best--double
registering the babies so they could be campaigned in both
breeds.
After breeding Arabian/Connemara half-breds for two years,
we bought two purebred Connemara mares to start raising purebred
babies. Our aim is to produce the old fashioned Connemara
who is known for its beauty, substance, intelligence, and
natural athletic ability. It must also have the disposition
that enable many to be ridden and trained by children or adults
who want a sensible, athletic performer, capable of excelling
in everything from dressage to trail riding. Above all, the
purebreds should LOOK and ACT like CONNEMARAS!
